From the port of Portimao, the fishing boats left on the Arade River and after the catch, the sardines were processed in a factory recently converted into a museum where you can view the total processing of the sardines.
With the growth of tourism, Portimao has built a long dam in the ocean, creating a very large and wide beach. The name Praia da Rocha was given and it fully meets the plans; a lot of tourism, a lot of crowds, a lot of restaurants and bars, a casino, several hotels but also a lot of high-rise buildings that make it not really attractive in terms of view.
